As part of the transformation of Amsterdam's Oosterpark, the former Dissecting Laboratory of the University of Amsterdam has been given a new function. The 1908 building was sold in 2014 and has since been completely remodeled and expanded. The new owner? Hotel chain Pillows, which has several luxury hotels in the Netherlands and Belgium.

In Hospitality Management he says of this project, "The special location in the park makes the function of the hotel diverse: the brasserie with terrace in the park, for example, is as much a place for hotel guests as it is for passers-by and local residents. This was also taken as a starting point in the interior design."

Pillows Boutique Hotel

Pillows' first five-star hotel needed a matching interior worthy of a Grand Boutique Hotel in a stately monumental building. The interior also had to be well matched to the unique elements of the existing building; such as glazed brick walls in the monumental corridors and the truss structures of the old museum hall.

Having previously worked on the award-winning Pillows Grand Hotel Ter Borch in Zwolle, interior designer Paul Linse of Studio Linse was also asked to work on the Grand Boutique Hotel in Amsterdam.

Realization

InteriorWorks was asked by C&R Hospitality Services to collaborate on this special new hotel in Amsterdam. This was the first time we had worked together with Studio Linse on a project. There was constant intensive contact with both parties and the client to make the project run as smoothly as possible.

We contributed much of the loose furniture in hotel. We also had some custom made items made for the rooms in collaboration with AMIS Furniture; including the lounge chairs and sofas.

In addition to advising on and purchasing the new furniture, we also handled the delivery and move-in with our partner M.G. Facility. In this way, we were involved until the final delivery.
