Dutch Design Week 2023

test

October 21-29 is the day! Dutch Design Week (DDW) is back with a new theme: Picture This. Picture This? An innocent call? No, certainly not. An urgent call to face our future and paint a picture of how design can turn the tide. DDW23 wants to spark movement with the efforts of the participating designers. How? Read on quickly.

DDW23 has 5 missions drawn up that guide a jam-packed program. You may immediately think of nature, the planet and our environment. These are certainly perennially important themes to be addressed as well. Remarkably, topics such as social equality, health and artificial intelligence also play a role this year. Zooming in on (interior) architecture, DDW23 again has a lot to offer. We have picked out for you which exhibitions are not to be missed within this year's missions.

Achieving our equal society

The Meeting - Studio Marian Genet: Are you traveling to Eindhoven by train? Then pass by this interactive artwork which symbolizes the energy and vibrancy of human interaction. A place to make new social connections. You certainly can't miss the artwork because of its striking shape and bright colors. It invites you to play and relax. Not entirely unimportant; The Encounter is made of reusable materials. Fun fact: dogs are allowed!

Location: Design Perron, Fuutlaan 12

Boosting our health & well-being

A design vision for buildings that brings people and nature together. This goes beyond just adding plants and greenery. Also consider light, elevations within a space and consideration of our human instincts. Make a space adventurous and make people curious. Be-Max Office Concepts is hosting 9 days of training, lectures and a tour to learn more about Biophilic Design and experience it for yourself.

Challenging our digital future

(A)I Designed a Chair - JUUL: You would say that AI and creativity do not go together. JUUL proves otherwise. For his latest project, Generative AI was his partner in crime and he wants to make this accessible to everyone. AI produced 500 chair designs, one of which JUUL brought to life; the U-Chair. We're curious to see what else AI has in store for us....

Location: Design Perron, Fuutlaan 12

PIANI - made of solid wood - is easy to assemble and disassemble, without losing quality. And there is no screw or bolt involved!

Enabling our thriving planet

Future > Factory > Furniture Arco, CS Rugs, Gelderland, Lande Family, Label van den Berg and Leolux: these 6 Dutch furniture companies have put their heads together. What do they have in common? They all produce their products in the Netherlands and feel responsible for making the living environment more sustainable. DDW35 is the starting point for them to search together for solutions to complex problems. Drop by next week and have a conversation with one of these companies about making the furniture industry greener. Sustainability has long been much more than a "nice to have.

Location: Strijp-S, Klokgebouw Hall 1, Klokgebouw 50

Just One Brick - Yi Design: It all started with a brick. Yi Design, a team of artists and scientists have developed a new circular material from ceramic waste. They are turning it into bricks and tiles for indoor and outdoor use. Designer Martin Oberhauser got to work with this durable material and shows that there are more possibilities. He created innovative but also practical products. Picture That! During the exhibition you will be introduced to this ceramic material and you can see the innovative products.

Location: Strijp-S, Klokgebouw Hall 1, Klokgebouw 50
