The Shoe Quarter

The Schoenenkwartier (formerly the Dutch Leather and Shoe Museum) finally opened its doors in a new location in the summer of 2022 after five years. The museum moved to the monumental Kropholler complex in the center of Waalwijk after years of being located on the Elzenweg.

The entire museum received a new look and feel. In addition to the museum itself, the museum's restaurant, reception area and offices also had to be addressed.

An important part of the design was to incorporate the museum's unique blue-black color into the furniture, among other things. This color was a design choice of Civic Architects and is also reflected in the workshop machines used to make shoes.

Realization

Furniture from Lensvelt. To incorporate the unique blue-black color into some of these products, we worked closely with Lensvelt.

The AVL Workbench by Lensvelt, a design by Atelier van Lieshout, was chosen for the work tables in the offices and several tables in the museum. This is combined with the special Tank Chair. Both in the museum's blue-black color.

InteriorWorks also carries products from Mattiazzi and Vitra suggested to Civic during the design process. These were eventually incorporated into the design. For example, you will find Mattiazzi's beautiful Osso stools executed in natural oak back in the restaurant.
