After two years, Orgatec is back! The international fair for office and workplace solutions. With the entire team we left for our eastern neighbors. Besides the fair, a visit to Design Post Köln could not be missed. New products and developments of both Dutch and international brands were also presented here. In this blog we highlight a (small) number of novelties we spotted.
Orgatec 2024 also shows that brands that originally focused on the residential and hospitality markets are becoming more visible on the "office stage. Think of Kettal, Muuto and NORR11. Not surprisingly, of course, because within offices we want more atmosphere, a feeling of hospitality, but also flexibility in layout. Brands are eagerly capitalizing on this to achieve that stylish dream workplace. Attractive trends in shapes and colors were easy to spot. Furthermore, contrary to expectations, sustainability was unfortunately in the shadows rather than in the spotlight. Nevertheless, we did spot some nice developments here and there, which you will read not in this, but in the next blog.
We were surprised by the brand Icons of Denmark. A brand that our A&D Manager Doortje works with more often. The BLOX Banquette Seating system is well suited for open workspaces such as office workstations, atriums and cafeterias. Companies struggling with uncertain office occupancy for the future can easily scale up and down with this system.
Colorful office interiors continue to thrive this year. VEPA presented "color in motion" this year. They offer their desk bases as standard in a range of color. So you can perfectly match your desks to any office environment and create an inspiring atmosphere. What else caught our eye in terms of color? We saw the deep eggplant or burgundy color everywhere. We recently applied this color in our showroom and more companies will follow. Just watch out!

Acoustics. People don't come to the office if the space is acoustically uncomfortable. Where acoustic panels were not very sexy before, brands are now turning them into beautiful works of art. Johanson and Blå Station managed to create a good atmosphere at their booth, but also - perhaps a more unfamiliar Italian brand - Slalom proves its worth. The Bloom and Woody acoustic panels stood out for us, with Woody winning this year's Red Dot Design Award.
More acoustics. Let me fall in with the bell booth door; without a bell booth, booth or pod in your collection, you don't belong. We saw them in every hallway, at (almost) every booth. Kettal presented its elegant Kall booths in different sizes. We saw the Kall L and XL before in Milan, then not available (and now it is!). Framery, a brand that specializes in booths & pods, has been making fine pods with excellent value for money for years. We are independent dealers, but secretly we are very fans of this Finnish brand!

Moving on to the aesthetic ability of the brands, our design hearts could not stop. Not only design brands we expect, but also renowned brands in the workplace industry released beautiful and well-presented products. OFFECCT, part of Flokk, presented the Font series, consisting of chairs and hospitality sofas. Font is available both straight and curved, ideal for museums, cafes and waiting areas. Arco dropped the new dining chair in the Re-volve series and in a new color (deep dark red!). Thonet shows with the new S 243 stacking chair they have a good eye for the project market. It would not be Thonet if the finishing touches had not been thought through in detail. For example, the chair has soft pads so that the frame and seat are not damaged.

Office chairs, something some of us do get excited about. The industry has shown a few gems again. Interstuhl presented "the new way of working" with the new Hej office chair series. What makes this chair so special? A cozy office chair that brings a sense of connection and versatility to a hygge-inspired office: work and home are connected, functionality and aesthetics come together. Ergonomic, functional and stylish. At the same time a touch bold and non-conformist.
We also took a look at Haworth Warehouse and this is the place to be for a good party! Apart from the live music, we are also up to date on the new developments within Haworth. The office chair Fern has been given a new "digital" look. Haworth Digital Knits apply advanced knitting technology from the world of fashion to office furniture. With eight color choices, trendy combinations are possible, from subtle to striking.
In addition to that Wilkahn had created a beautiful booth, they also presented novelties. The brand focused mainly on integrating technological solutions. The new line Confair Next a the range of new workshop tools. These flexible, future-proof and integrated products enhance teamwork at every level.
