Our long-standing partnership with Booking.com was crowned last year with the realization of the impressive Booking.com Campus in the heart of Amsterdam. The headquarters of the world's largest online travel platform offers more than 6,500 employees a new workplace. Our capital city can be proud of this impressive and sustainable addition. The design of the campus reflects the culture of the company; functional, transparent and a place for connection. The new campus is not just another workplace, but a Booking Home - a home for every employee.

Connector spaces

The 65,000 sq. ft. area represents all parts of the world and offers recognition to every colleague - that's bold with over 100 different nationalities! The 10 design studios have truly put employees at the center, ensuring the highest standards when it comes to inclusivity, efficiency, health and well-being.

Thus, there are 28 micro-holiday destinations on campus created to offer employees a moment to themselves. Have a cup of coffee in the Amazon, plop down on a Greek island or take a stroll through New York City. In addition, several floors have a connector space, a dynamic "playground" to get the mind off and get some good exercise. For example, Booking.com employees are a "hop-step-jump" away from a mind reset. Finally, this office is a forerunner in sustainability through the rich use of green plants and achieving BREEAM excellent certification. This large-scale complex project was a design after our InteriorWorks heart in which we were the Booking Home-sharing philosophy.

Realization of the design

Booking.com wanted to offer a wide variety of types of (work) spaces, think of spaces with workstations, open and closed meeting rooms, restaurants, fine coffee bars and "connector spaces," spaces where people can retreat to enjoy the view or get moving. Realizing the design is a huge task and that's where InteriorWorks comes in. This diversity of styles and the wide variety of furniture was the most fun, but also the biggest challenge.

The chairs, tables, whiteboards and all other furniture delivered are now in their proper places within the campus. Through our 20 years of experience as furniture specialists, we provided advice on the selected furniture in terms of durability and technical specifications, where necessary we quickly offered alternatives. We were able to realize the design and the interior architects' wishes through our flexible attitude, tight planning and communication with 110 different brands and the logistics partners. With a lead time of six months, all products were ordered by room, called according to LEAN planning and delivered complete in 138 deliveries. All furniture for each room was arranged according to floor plan drawing, as envisioned by the interior designer. We were able to accomplish this through the good relationships between our team of project managers and our suppliers in the early stages of this project.

Furniture with a longer life

Sustainability played an important role in the design of the Booking.com Campus. The building itself has achieved BREEAM excellent certification and is considered one of the most sustainable buildings in the city. Sustainability requirements were also set for the furniture, whereby we also thought about the life extension of the products. Thus, all the upholstered furniture and carpets have been given a received sustainable maintenance treatment with Reinasan. By maintaining furniture properly, your furniture will last longer and ensure a lasting presentable appearance. Read more about how Reinasan works. here.
