International communications agency Edelman found a new home in the monumental building De Olifant on the Keizersgracht in Amsterdam. After a thorough renovation, this shell space lay before us as an unwritten page - a nice turn-key challenge for InteriorWorks in collaboration with Beamm and Pubblik&Vos.

Edelman wanted an office with the characteristic appearance, but above all an interior that would do justice to the building's impressive history. This project proves that a historic building and modern work requirements can be perfectly combined in a design that is both functionally and aesthetically distinctive.

A 'noble' interior

For this turn-key project, we engaged Pubblik&Vos in for concept development and interior design. They created a design that is warm, atmospheric and elegantly embraces the property's rich history in the Second Golden Age. This resulted in an office that reflects the essence of Edelman - a place where gold ideas arise. Pubblik&Vos drew inspiration from the era when trade influences from faraway places came together in a sophisticated aesthetic. Think Persian carpets, luxurious fabrics and Venetian mirrors. The color palette of Bentheimer purple, Bremen green and ochre creates an atmosphere that is both historically accurate and feels contemporary. Characteristic elements such as marbling, wooden herringbone patterns and Dutch "witjes" pay homage to the property's architectural heritage.

Both external and internal communication are central to this communications agency. Within the design, therefore, much attention has been paid to consultation areas. These include informal areas for a cup of coffee with a colleague, concentration workstations, consultation areas with privacy, a spacious pitch room for receiving clients, but also a hybrid space where both events and presentations can take place.

Realization of the design

We played a central role in the realization of the vision and unique design by Pubblik&Vos. Both in construction supervision and budget management. In collaboration with Beamm, we coordinated this project with care and precision.

InteriorWorks acted as the connecting factor between all parties involved - from architect and contractor to custom supplier, E&W installer and project designer. Thus, we guided the entire process and ensured that all facets of the transformation fit together seamlessly.

Together with Beamm, we delivered this work environment from A to Z, including kitchens, plumbing, flooring and lighting. Teamworks was responsible for realizing the custom components from the design.

Vintage meets modern

In the entrance, you are welcomed in style by the vintage Venetian-style mirrors, along with the NORR11 Big Big lounge chairs and a custom made rug from Textiles and more. Walking through the black steel doors, you enter the heart of the office; the kitchen along with the open space with Bentheimer purple HAY Guilton sofas. The Amsterdam chairs of Satelliet make the kitchen homey, it's a place to informally discuss the weekend, have a comfortable lunch or flip open the laptop. On the other side of the building is a smaller Bentheimer purple pantry for a small (or large) snack and the real coffee addicts - nice and close to the workplace - with a custom-made chandelier as an eye-catcher.

The ochre yellow consultation rooms emphasize calm and focus. The durable oak Kami tables from Arco, along with the comfortable Muuto Fibers and &Tradition Rely's & Loafers AND the vintage finds from Pubblik&Vos turn the rooms into atmospheric yet businesslike meeting spaces. Apart from the fact that this homey office is a place to get together, the PR consultants also come here to work focused. The office has 60 flex workstations set up with height-adjustable Milano Duo desks from Kisch and Lino office chairs by Herman Miller. A light color was chosen to match the playful interior of the rest of the office.

Edelman's office interior is unique because of an appropriate mix of modern and vintage items, as well as the beautiful details of custom-made lighting and custom furniture. For example, you will find subtle references to Edelman because of the incorporation of their logo, as well as the name of the building. How many elephants do you count?
