Japanse trading company

An entire office floor was renovated in the World Trade Center Amsterdam for the European headquarters of a leading Japanese trading company. From the by Machi Machi. Architects drafted concept, based on the Japanese Omotenashi-principle (a deeply rooted form of hospitality where genuine care and attention are central), we further developed the interior design into a thoughtful and complete plan where the Japanese identity is palpable in every space.

Japanese hospitality at the WTC Amsterdam

The interior concept is designed as a harmonious whole in which warm and cool materials complement each other. Upon entering the reception area, you immediately experience the calm, refined atmosphere. Wood plays a connecting role in this and is reflected in ceilings, walls and furniture. In combination with concrete and natural stone, a balanced spatial experience is created. Blue accents in the upholstery add layering and structure to all spaces; a line that is consistently continued in the rest of the interior.

The office floor of approximately 1,000 m² on the twelfth floor of the WTC is designed according to a dynamic floor plan, in which workstations, meeting rooms and other zones flow seamlessly into one another. In cooperation with manufacturer Kisch we fulfilled the customer's desire for fixed, personal workstations: so-called cubicles. These semi-open, individually defined workstations - inspired by the American office layout - combine comfort, focus and a presentable appearance.

The selected furniture closely matches the tactile and timeless design concept. The applied furniture pieces include the Regular sofa from Fést Amsterdam, the Rely HW40 meeting chairs from &Tradition, the Sussex Cabinet by Punt in beautiful walnut-stained oak, pots by Atelier Square and the Element coffee table by Ethnicraft. The final details are completed with accessories from &Tradition. Together, these elements create an interior that is both inviting and representative of the organization's Japanese identity.
