Every year in April, Milan transforms into the design capital of the world. Milan Design Week — with the Salone del Mobile and the vibrant Fuorisalone as its beating heart — attracts designers, brands, and enthusiasts from all over the world. The trade fair, Salone del Mobile, has long been the place to be to be the first to see, feel, and experience the latest furniture designs. A fair where you can wander around for days. So plan your trip well and Kill your darlings, because the city itself has (too) much to offer. The Fuorisalone – literally 'outside the Salone' – has grown into a true city festival, with public exhibitions, interactive installations, a rich mix of art and design, and plenty of networking opportunities. 'Be the Project' is the theme of Fuorisalone 2026. It invites us to no longer see design as an end product, but as a living, human process — shaped by curiosity, mistakes, intuition, and responsibility.
We have separated the wheat from the chaff, that's what we've done for everything that needs to be done in the neighborhood. Brera. Since there is so much to do, we have made a shortlist featuring a number of must-sees, newest restaurants and the most beautiful showrooms listed. Brera is a favorite of many (including ourselves), so don't miss it!

Valcucine

Baccarat
TO SEE: Baccarat | Crystal Crypt After a four-year absence, Baccarat is back at Milan Design Week. With Crystal Crypt, curated by Emmanuelle Luciani, the iconic crystal is given new life: somewhere between mystical architecture, mythology, and contemporary art – call it sci-fi if you like. The showstopper is Bethan Laura Wood's exuberant Mille Fleurs chandelier, alongside fresh interpretations of the classic Harcourt glassware from 1841. Proof once again: 260 years old, and still vibrantly alive. 📍 10 Via Marco Formentini
TO SEE: VALCUCINE | Crafting Forward At Crafting Forward, Valcucine explores the relationship between craftsmanship and innovation, with the kitchen as a constantly evolving system. At Valcucine's Brera showroom, visitors discover how materials, technology, and design come together. From glass to stone to metal—you'll experience it up close and see how detail and material shape the space. 📍 Valcucine Milan Brera, Corso Giuseppe Garibaldi 99
To Eat CARNASSAGE | High-end meat experience Forget the dark steakhouse clichés: architect Annalisa Marzorati designed a restaurant that is more reminiscent of a luxury spa — with bronze mosaic arches, polished sand-colored marble, and deep red chairs. The meat, of course, is top quality and served on white Orosei marble tables, where the red (of both the meat and the furnishings) stands out beautifully. In short, as they themselves say, a temple for culinary enjoyment. 📍Carniceria, Varese Street, 4

Sarra Ricciardi Studio

Grand Seiko
TO SEE: GRAND SEIKO | The Nature of Time Grand Seiko brings its philosophy 'The Nature of Time' to life with immersive installations during MDW26. Rooted in the Japanese vision of harmony between time and environment, this approach is evident in every watch and in the unique exhibition experience. 📍 Grand Seiko, Galleria Il Castello, Via Brera 16
TO SEE: SARA RICCIARDI STUDIO | Serotonin - the chemistry of happiness American Express presents an immersive installation by artist Sara Ricciardi that explores the connection between beauty and happiness. In the Loggia of the Pinacoteca di Brera, visitors enter a sensory environment where soft inflatable shapes slowly expand and contract—a rhythmic, almost breathing space. 📍 American Express Living, Palazzo Brera, Via Brera 28
TO SEE: STARK | Albori Stark presents Albori, an installation that translates the theme 'Be the Project' into a journey through the creative process: from capturing stimuli from the environment, to the moment an idea emerges, to the composition where form and space merge. In the historic Castello Sforzesco - already a sight to behold - visitors go through the three phases of design: listening, intuition, and composition, using sound, light, and material. 📍 Sforza Castle, Piazza Castello, Milan
To eat: TRIENNIAL KITCHEN | Want to escape the hustle and bustle for a bit? Take a short walk through Sempione Park to the (coffee) bar and restaurant Cucina Triennale. Housed in the iconic Palazzo dell'Arte, with a design where architect Luca Cipelletti managed to respect the original spirit of the building. The interior breathes history and modernity: shades of green marble, oak niches, tables based on archival drawings from 1933, and a thoughtful lighting plan. That makes us happy – with an espresso (martini) in hand📍 Triennale Design Museum, Alemagna Avenue, 6

Edible Reveries

Glo for art 2026
TO SEE: glo™ | glo for art 2026 glo returns to Palazzo Moscova with an interactive installation by Numero Cromatico. At its center is a striking orange portal—a symbol of connection and togetherness—inviting visitors to create a universe where space is not just observed, but truly experienced. An experience of light, color, sound, and scent. 📍 Palazzo Moscova, 18 Via Moscova
TO SEE: EDIBLE REVERSIES | The TATTILE installation A stone's throw from Brera (oops!), this installation is definitely worth it. Studio Yellowdot creates a dream world where design and food meet. For Fuorisalone 2026, the studio presents TATTILE: a collection of 3D-printed furniture that mimics the shapes of oversized pasta — soft, yet structured. The curves, printed in a wood composite filament, embrace the body with quiet precision. Surrounded by sculptural lamps, sound, and video, the visitor is immersed in a dreamy atmosphere where food design and digital craftsmanship merge — literally 'from byte to bite.' 📍 Edible Reveries, Via Melzo 34, Milan
To eat: DONBURI HOUSE | Not new, but the concept is new to Brera. Eaten too much pizza and pasta? Then pull up a chair for a Japanese donburi or ramen at Donburi House. The atmosphere is informal, fast, and accessible; it's set up as a kind of 'izakaya-light'. A perfect stop for a quick lunch or dinner before (or after) a showroom drinks session. 📍Donburi House, Via della Moscova, 24
MUST-SEE SHOWROOM | Poltrona Frau, Molteni&C, Zimmer+Rohde, Pierre Frey, Exteta
