Miro: a green urban oasis in the heart of the Zuidas

How do you translate the ambition of an international technology company into a work environment where nearly 900 people want to be every day? For Miro, that happened in the Edge Stadium, one of the most sustainable office buildings in Amsterdam. Here vision, design and collaboration came together, with one goal: to create an inspiring place that supports innovation, meeting and well-being.

Collaboration as key

The workplace concept Miro 100 was rolled out by ZENBER Architects. They translated Miro's ambitions into a future-oriented design that focuses on cooperation, innovation and well-being. What makes this project special: the concept was not only created on the drawing board, but also together with the employees of Miro. Their ideas, wishes and way of working were a direct source of inspiration. For us, this is proof that co-creation is at its best: client, architect and designer working together to build a working environment that truly embraces people.

With 10,500 sq. ft. spread over three floors, the office offers endless possibilities. The Urban Gardens form the green heart of each floor: bright spots filled with plants that reduce stress, promote concentration and literally give employees breathing room. Around the atrium and in the corners of the building you will find meeting spaces, work cafes, a discovery center and even a Biophilic Library a green, quiet space to work and relax.

In addition, there are the Neighbourhoods: flexible zones where each team has its own space. From concentration rooms to brainstorming pavilions, the work environment moves with the different working styles and needs.

Our role: from vision to design

As InteriorWorks, we were allowed to make Miro's vision tangible. We did this by creating a design that strikes a balance between style, comfort and functionality. An important element was the reuse of existing furniture: cleaning, re-upholstering or resizing. In this way, existing pieces were given a second life, completely in keeping with the new environment.

The new furniture had a clear sustainability ambition. Together with ZENBER and Miro, we researched circular and locally produced options. In order to make the right choices, we even set up a temporary showroom at Miro, where employees could test their favorites and have a say in the selection.

The final mix of brands, including Vepa, Occony, DUM, Vitra, Thonet and Espattio, is not only functional, but also inspiring. Not every brand is fully circular, but rather the combination of sustainable, timeless and innovative design creates furnishings that match Miro's ambitions and daily use.

The result

Miro's new office is much more than a workplace. It is an environment that supports hybrid working, but above all invites people to meet, exchange ideas and grow together. An inspiring urban oasis in the middle of the Zuidas.

For us, this project is a great example of how collaboration and vision lead to a work environment that goes beyond four walls: a place that connects people, energizes and lasts.
